At a launching event in London, Samsung unveiled the tablet and said that users will be able share files between Windows 8 and Android applications. The ATIV Q tablet is equipped with a keyboard through which the user can operate the tablet like a laptop.

Emeli Sande and Will.i.am also performed at the event, which was hosted by Jason Bradbury, who is a known face on U.K. television through his program “The Gadget Show”.

Samsung Plans to Outrun Apple

Samsung is looking forward to dominate rival Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), and in this quest it is bringing both rival companies’ OS together. Samsung previously followed this strategy in a mobile phone that helped it to become one of the highest selling phone companies. There was a hike in shipments of Samsung Tablets by almost triple in the first quarter compared to the first quarter of the previous year. Rival Apple holds 40 percent of the market, yet these shipments exceeded 65 percent.

DJ Lee, Samsung’s head of sales and marketing for mobile said, “These tablets are the result of people-centric innovation, and they were designed to provide consumers the flexibility to manage their digital lives on their terms whether they are in the office, at home or on the go.”

Tablets Shipments to Increase

According to a research report from IDC last month, the tablets are estimated to dominate shipments of personal computers by 2015. The shipments will rise 45 percent from this year to 332.4 million while PC shipments are expected to decrease.

Other Devices Unveiled

The ATIV Tab 3 tablet, also launched by Samsung, is claimed to be the thinnest Windows 8 tablet. The thickness of ATIV Tab 3 is equal to a smartphone. The battery has a life of 10 hours. Samsung also rolled out Samsung Galaxy NX camera, which is 4G enabled and powered by Android. Users can access mail, apps and music through the camera.

The electronic giant came up with three brand new computers, which are powered by the Windows 8 operating system

In the Desktop PC segment, the company launched One 5 style with a high definition touchscreen. Users can use the PC as a hub for their content across various devices in the home.

An updated version of Windows 8 was launched by Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) for tablet users. Microsoft came out with its surface tablet as well but could not compete with Apple and Samsung.
